- Slab vs. pre-hung: a slab door reuses the existing jamb (cheaper); a pre-hung swap means setting a new frame, shimming plumb, and re-casing
- Door count and whether you're matching existing panel style, swing direction, and hinge/bore locations across the house
- Rough-opening condition: out-of-square framing, racked jambs, or settled openings add shimming and reveal correction
- Hardware grade and prep: passage vs. privacy vs. keyed locksets, plus any new bore/mortise work for handles and hinges
- Casing and trim profile: matching existing millwork, mitered returns, and paint-grade vs. stain-grade finishing
- Removal and disposal of old doors, plus any drywall touch-up around a re-cased opening
